Kofi Annan - Children's Charter, Rights of the Child

The LORD said 'Kofi Annan', so I looked at his website to see what he is up to, on the front page it states that Annan is involved with dialogue with young people to inspire them to lead. 'A series of on-line conversations between Mr. Annan and young people worldwide will be launched on the 15th of May, 2013, providing an unprecedented opportunity to interact with one of our time's greatest leaders'. [1]

Kofi Annan was involved in the development of the UN Children's Charter, giving children human rights. So I have emailed Kofi Annan to enlist his help with what is going on in the UK with the 'Bedroom Tax'. Due to the government, councils and housing associations removing the bedrooms of the children. Not only are the UK government in contravention of the Children's Charter of human rights, they are also in contravention of the spiritual law of the cosmos.

The UN Convention of the Rights of the Child provides us with the following:

'The children have the right to express their opinions, and to have those opinions heard and acted upon. To be protected from abuse or exploitation and to have their privacy protected and it requires that their lives do not have excessive interference'.

'The child's viewpoint must always be heard'.

In December 2011, a new protocol was introduced to do with communications procedure. This allows children or their representatives to file individual complaints for violation of the rights of children.

The UK government are in violation of the rights of children for the following reasons:

1. The children were denied the right to express their opinion and view about having their bedrooms removed. There was no consent given by the children or their representatives, and no dialog with the children took place prior to the UK government implementing its new rules.

2. The UK government are exploiting children to gain more tax from the poor.

3. The UK government are removing the privacy of the child by enforcing them against their will to share a bedroom.

4. The UK government are partaking in excessive interference into the lives of children and their sleeping arrangements. When a child has its own bedroom, they have the privacy that every child is entitled to. As such, the UK government are also in contravention of the laws of equality, and discrimination.

5. The poor that live in social housing are being discriminated against, and inequality is the result.
