Italian author most well known for his book 'The Name of the Rose' as passed over and it is written that he is considered to be by many, one of the greatest writers in modern Italy. He was 84 years old, a ripe age for a writer. A film was made of his successful book about an Italian monastery, a mystery thriller with many messages for his Italian audience. Apparently the acronym of his name in Latin means 'a gift from the heavens'.
