MARILYN MESSAGE

While cooking a pepper steak this evening I was given the word "Marilyn" and it felt like an American location, although it can be found spelt differently. My sense is that this is to do with voting and the American election.

Marilyn is an American name, a combination of Mary and Lynn. Most famous of all was the actress Marilyn Monroe, it was a popular name in the 20s, 30s and 40s.  There is a main belt asteroid with the name.

However, Americans often pronounce words differently and an American shared that many Americans pronounce Maryland, has Marilyn.

In the UK, it is a name given to mountains and hills based upon their height. Marilyn's are defined as peaks of prominence of 150 metres or 490ft or more. In April 2020 there were 2,011 Marilyns, the original classification with that name didn't begin until 1992 in the UK.
