There is now news from Sri Lanka, if you go there with a tattoo of Buddha on your body, that can be seen, they will arrest you and deport you. A 37 year-old British woman from Coventry, was on her way to the Maldives, via Sri Lanka. She is being held at an 'immigration detention camp after a magistrate ordered her deportation due to a tattoo.' They're not allowing her to go onto the Maldives, they're deporting her back to England.
Its also reported that 'two years ago, three French tourists were given suspended prison sentences for kissing a Buddha statue.'
