When the Conservatives closed our historic maternity hospital where my son was born, it was replaced with housing.
A former midwife shared with me that we were then given a ward at the hospital that only has one-third of the beds that we had at the maternity hospital. At the same time immigration has soared and now sometimes mothers have to be sent to a different county to have their babies, how crazy and dangerous is that for the mother and baby to have to travel that far to give birth.
Services were cut with no long term view or plan to accommodate the vast influx of people and women giving birth. Infrastructures have suffered with the people, roads, airports, trains, hospitals and schools.
