The article headline is "Not enough GPs? Thousands of us are now unemployed."

Practice partnerships are now hiring lower level staff, referred to has ARRS staff. Has such, GP locums cannot find work, one of them reports to Pulse Today. It is viewed that the high cost of running a practice combined with higher energy costs means that GP partnerships have had to reduce their overheads and the cost cutting includes cutting work for GP locums.

Some of the nurses that work for GP practices specialise in different health conditions, some can prescribe medication too.

Full time a GP locum can earn has much as £191,000 annually.  Even two ten hour shifts a week could earn them £76,000 a year.

Now you know why we have to wait so long to see a GP. When you telephone for an appointment now, they ask you why you would like to see a doctor. Then they decide how long you have to wait to see a doctor or offer you an appointment with a nurse etc. The last time I made an appointment it was a three week wait. If you can't get an appointment with a GP for something important then ring the NHS 111 service because they can arrange an emergency appointment with your GP.

If their clinicians decide it is an urgent matter. NHS 111 also decide whether to send an ambulance, paramedics or community nurses to your home.
