Wythenshawe Hall Urbanisation

Whythenshawe Hall built by the architect Robert Tatton of Chester in around 1540 is on fire.

If we look at this manor and its estate, in 1643 after the English Civil War the estate was expanded to around 2,500 acres.

It is written that in 1924, the estate was inherited and Tatton yielded to pressure from the Manchester Corporation to urbanise its farmland and it was sold to the Simon family.

The farmland than became one of the largest housing estates in Europe. As we can see England as a history of urbanisation, and we can all see what has happened to Manchester due to what the Manchester Corporation did.

Ernest Simon was an industrialist, and served as a member of the Manchester City Council.
