INFRARED HEAT THERAPY

Happy Hanukkah, blessed with a new iMAC that works like a dream and I treated myself to a table top infrared heat lamp from Sanitas, model SIL45.  So let's have a look at the research on infrared heat lamps.

This paper is from 2014, published in the Photomedicine and Laser Surgery journal.

"A controlled trial to determine the efficacy of red and near-infrared light treatment in patient satisfaction, reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, skin roughness, and intradermal collagen density increase". The results included significant improvement.

I didn't buy the lamp for cosmetic reasons, I bought it to see if it could help Osteoarthritis. WEBMD quote a study that found that red and infrared light therapy cut osteoarthritis-related pain by more than 50%.

This research is on how it can help R.A.

This paper is from 2016, "Shining the light on the head" for the brain.

Dr Michael Hamblin, from Harvard Medical School. Red Light or Photobiomodulation, its mechanisms of action, therapeutic and health effects.

On the 24th of November, 2021, New Scientist published an article titled, "Red light therapy could improve eyesight". By-line, "Exposure to deep red or near-infrared light can improve the function of the eye's mitochondria, the powerhouses in the cells, resulting in slight but lasting improvement in declining eyesight".

Biology Professor, Dr Tiffany Oliver, Spelman College discusses her innovative research on red light therapy and how it can help to treat wounds, promote hair growth and reduce joint pain.

Research of Infrared Light (Heat) Therapy is in its infancy, although the results so far from these studies show that it has huge potential for Holistic Health and Healing. Hence, I'm very pleased with my infrared heat lamp, although there were no goggles in the box, when there was meant to be.

Lidl customer services weren't very helpful and the manufacturer is saying that they will only ship to Germany and Austria. Never mind, maybe I am meant to go with it, with no goggles.

This British journalist, Claire Johnstone, has provided a review on the product, although she appears to have a different model to yours truly.

When is the best time to do your red light therapy sessions?
