Winter of Poverty UK

2013 was the 'winter of discontent' for many British people - and as the austerity cuts bit deeper due to the bedroom tax - the people began to 'commit suicide.'  The British government's austerity cuts are 'procurement of suicide' as more and more people are struggling to pay for electricity - gas and water. Before they can even consider feeding themselves and their children - energy has to be accounted for.

For the British people - 4 million British people living in poverty is the 'winter of death'. It is a known fact that many elderly people pass over during the winter months. However - the stringent application of cuts will have far greater implications than any minister has ever experienced during their history as politicians. The health of the nation has not seen this much risk with people's lives since WW2 was on its soil.

While the poor suffer poverty - the MP's are drinking their champagne and Prince William is touring in America with a chat about wildlife with Obama. Surely - it is the Christmas of judgement upon this nation - and its leaders that were elected. It is easy to see how compassionate and merciful a nation is - by how well they look after its vulnerable populace.

The unemployed are also vulnerable - and not everyone has family that are living or able to help them.

Yet - government sub-contractors just cut them off without comprehending the sheer depth of the consequences and the domino effect on those lives. This winter truly is a winter of life or death for many people - people who are beyond endurance.

An article was shared today of how a veteran who had his leg amputated - is being treated for 'cancer' - as been asked to return to work. A similar case was featured in the British media in 2013 - when a woman passed over within five months of her being asked to return to work. She was also being treated for 'cancer'.

People from other nations do not understand the British welfare state and how healthy it once was for the nation. Whole families willingly paid high taxes to provide and to ensure that everyone would be covered if they were ever unemployed or sick.

British people were happy to pay for the welfare state; and for many generations the people were satisfied that it provided what it was intended for. So what changed and why so many sub-contractors - so much privatization - so many different agencies interfering into the lives of the people.

That veteran has paid taxes for 50 years - yet the sub-contractor says he has to go back to work. How can David Cameron sleep at night. When it is life or death for the people - it is also life or death for a nation.

Some people seem to think that social housing is the solution - it is a factor. However - bear in mind that those that had the opportunity to purchase their homes - are now paying a quarter of what people are paying in rented social housing. Rents in social housing are much higher than they've ever been - and they increase every single year. When the housing stocks were sold - it was due to the high maintenance costs that were due to be spent.

As soon as people bought the properties in London - the local councils then sent them huge bills asking for thousands to put on new roofs and install new windows etc. The money from the sale of the properties did not go back into the housing stocks.

Then there was the immigration factor - and many Londoners were literally driven out of their homes. My own mother left London and moved to a chalet in the countryside; where she could be with friends and family. From November to March she used to go abroad to Spain - where it was cheaper for her to live due to the cost of the energy in the UK. The cost of living now is higher than most people can afford. There has to be major changes - and they have to be urgently implemented in a positive way to help this nation.

The British view of poverty in the UK.

Make sure you've got plenty of flour and oil.

So what else is in the news the woman that told the poor to eat porridge instead of cereal. I don't think that Jenkins really gets it. Those that are cut off can't afford cereal or porridge.

In his sketch, Donald Macintyre notes, "The baroness is a member of the Lords' "refreshment committee", which rejected a merger of the Peers' and Commons' catering departments on the grounds that the quality of champagne would suffer."
