EARTH DAY 2017 - RIGHT TO REPAIR

This article is about Apple's controversial policies over "right to repair" and recycling.

It has been the case that Apple made the cost of repair of their products so expensive that people really had no choice but to buy new. However, the once great reputation of Apple was dented big league due to Apple laptops that did not have the longevity of their original computers.

Two to three years if you were lucky from an Apple laptop, at least twice the backlights went on two different laptops that are more expensive than their competitors.

Just because you pay more for Apple, doesn't mean that they last any longer if it is a laptop.

If you are discerning, if you care about the environment, and wastage, then you should certainly call Apple to account for its policies and products.

Of course there should be third party right to repair, and right to repair that is economical too. Also Apple should provide parts at next to cost, to third party repairers, due to it being the responsibility of the manufacturer's product and not the purchaser.

The original cost should determine the length of the guarantee, the higher the cost, the longer the guarantee. Every Apple computer should have a five year guarantee due to the high cost of them.

In 2011, I tried to get a new laptop repaired, I went around and around in circles between PC world and Apple with the customer caught in the middle of the manufacturer and the retailer. It was not resolved, and the new laptop still sits in its original box. All it requires is a new backlight!
