Johnny Come Lately

When I woke up today I received a message 'Johnny Come Lately' and it was a song written by an American Steve Earle, and he did a recording of it in a North London recording studio, with 'The Pogues' and the song itself is sung from an American perspective of London, and the experiences during the war. It mentions Camden Town, six more missions and the North End girl.

I could accept that there are six more missions to engage in - and its an interesting message bearing in mind that the next engagement with God is about to begin.

The term 'Johnny-Come-Lately' can mean a 'Newcomer' or 'Later Starter' at a particular place or in a sphere of activity. And we also have the term that is often used. 'Later'. This is a link on the origins of the saying, and it is written that it is American in origin.

My godfather at my Christening as the name of 'John', and we always called him uncle Johnny, so its an interesting name to be given today. He always reminded me of Frank Sinatra in his later years due to his statue, and he always looked very Italian to me as child.

I only know one other person - personally with the name John that I remember - and he is an English biblical scholar. I do have a mandala that was done for a American person with that name - so I shall include it on this post.

The mandala reminds me of a decorative pottery plate, very creative and colourful. Like a plate that you would put upon the wall to decorate it. Interesting that Jesus said that John the Baptist didn't bring the bread or the wine.

So you might like to consider that in relation to John the Apostle being known as the John the Divine, John the Virgin. Then there is John of the Cross. Lots of different realities with the name of John that includes St John's Ambulance.
