A 7.6 magnitude earthquake affecting the Philippines and Indonesia reported by USGS.gov website.
A tsunami warning has been issued.
The Guardian newspaper report that evacuations were continuing in the Philippines, where there were not initial reports of significant wave damage or casualties despite continuing aftershocks.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, Phivolcs, maintained that the risk of a tsunami remained. The local police chief said people are being evacuated from the coastal areas.
