The National Farmer's Union have issued a stern warning to the government about the overdependence of food imports, placing the country's food security at risk. The 9th of August is "Self-sufficiency Day", the day that the UK would have run out of food had it been solely dependent on its own production since the start of the year, based on a 60% self-sufficiency rating.

Farmers hiring filipinos to fill labour shortages, more immigration that has to stop. Visa fees and flights alone cost about £7,500, and the Farmers Weekly article says that the government does not allow candidates to pay for their own travel - unlike countries such as Nigeria and India.

So where exactly do the farmers advertise the jobs? Are the jobs offered to the local job centres? Do they advertise in the local press? Have any of you ever seen a farmer advertising for staff?
