I was born in the decade after WW2, has such food was still rationed in London, England at that time.
To help to counteract the lack of range of food, my mother used to give me Vit C from a baby.
I also stopped eating around the age of 18 months and that was another reason why she gave me Vit C.
Although doctors at Barts Hospital assured my mother that I wouldn't go hungry and that I would eat when I was. I loved to suck a lemon and a pickled onion, I liked pickled cucumbers and eggs too. I would raid the fridge of little cheeses and fresh toms and I liked beans on toast, or a boiled egg for breakfast.
However, my reason for posting this is that overdosing on Vit C, can corrode the body and before I was 20 years old, I experienced gall stones.
So is there any evidence that too much Vit C can be dangerous for the body?
Yes.
In this study from Florida exceeding 80-90mg a day can corrode the body although they call it "rust" in this article.
We know that too much Vit C can cause Kidney Stones too. The National Kidney Foundation consider 500mg daily to be too much. So what does that tell us? Too much Vit C calcifies the body.

A friend also wore out her pancreas and the doctor told her that she'd eaten far too much fruit.
When they originally discovered Vit C they didn't know that Vit K existed. Apparently, it wasn't until the 80s that Vit K was discovered and Vit K is essential for assimilating Vit C.
If a person eats a balanced range of menus with all of the nutrients that the body requires, then there is no requirement for a supplement of Vit C. In fact, medical studies show that too much Vit C can be dangerous for the body.
What most people lack is Vit D and minerals.
