MASKS DO RESTRICT OXYGEN

It is reported that Professor Dolores Cahill has been removed from her lecturing post at an Irish Medical School because while she was on a St Patricks Day Protest march, she claimed that wearing a mask restricts access to oxygen. Has reported in the Irish Times.

So is there any science to back up her statement? We know that masks weren't made to protect surgeons from respiratory hazards. We have a peer-reviewed paper on that published in 2016.

Plus we also have this paper. Preliminary report on surgical mask induced deoxygenation during major surgery. The study found that pulse rates of the surgeons increased and SpO2 decrease after the first hour of wearing a mask.

In conclusion the paper says that a very small decrease in saturation at this level, reflects a large decrease in PaO2, our findings may have clinical value for the health workers and the surgeons. They also found that there was a higher decrease in surgeons over the age of 35.

That would make sense because at around the age of 35 the CoQ10 in the body starts to decrease.
