British lawyer says that protests are not banned, they are legal. The right to protest is Common Law, I would also say that the Human Right of Dissent is International law.

However, today, I saw that a woman was violently arrested in London because she refused to give her name. From what I saw she was protesting peacefully and the whole arrest was filmed. It is certainly a case for the Police Complaints Commission.
